Get an ETIAS for visa-free travel in Europe
Travelers from non-EU countries must obtain an ETIAS travel authorization to enter the Schengen area. This simple online procedure is designed to enhance security while facilitating short-term tourist or business stays.
What is ETIAS?
ETIAS is an electronic authorization required to enter Europe without a visa. This system will enable the European Union to screen potentially high-risk travelers before they arrive.
It’s not a visa: ETIAS complements existing visa policies, not replaces them.
Who should apply for ETIAS?
ETIAS will be compulsory for citizens of over 60 visa-exempt countries. It applies to stays of less than 90 days for tourism, business or transit purposes.
Even children must obtain an ETIAS via a specific application filled in by their parents.
How do I apply for ETIAS?
Applying for an ETIAS is entirely online. All you have to do is visit the official ETIAS website, then fill in a form containing your personal details, passport data, reason for travel, and a few health and background questions.
Payment of the ETIAS fee completes the procedure and triggers automatic review of your file. In most cases, authorization is issued within a few minutes. However, some profiles may take up to 30 days to process.
How much does ETIAS cost?
The ETIAS fee is fixed:
- 20 per person,
- Free for under-18s and over-70s.
Validity and duration of stay
An approved ETIAS allows multiple stays in Europe, each lasting up to 90 days within a 180-day period. If you change your EU passport or marital status, you must update your ETIAS.
In which countries is ETIAS valid?
ETIAS provides access to all Schengen member countries, including :
- France (Paris)
- Italy (Rome, Milan)
- Spain (Madrid, Barcelona)
- Germany (Berlin, Munich)
- Belgium (Brussels)
- Netherlands (Amsterdam)
- Poland (Warsaw)
- Sweden (Stockholm)
- Greece (Athens)
- Norway (Oslo)
- Denmark (Copenhagen)
- Portugal (Lisbon)
ETIAS by nationality
Dedicated information pages are available for each eligible nationality:
Do I need to print my ETIAS?
No, this is not compulsory. The authorization is electronically linked to the passport. However, we recommend that you check its validity before departure, and keep a printed copy as a precaution.
