Travelling to Germany: Do I need an ETIAS?
Nationals of countries outside the European Union must obtain an ETIAS travel permit to enter Germany, even for a short tourist stay or stopover.
Stay of less than 90 days: ETIAS is sufficient
Travelers from eligible countries will not need a Schengen visa if they plan to stay in Germany for less than 90 days. The ETIAS will replace traditional formalities: a simple electronic authorization linked to the passport will allow entry into the country.
How do I apply for ETIAS?
The procedure is 100% online. All you have to do is fill in a short ETIAS form, providing :
- a valid passport,
- a bank card,
- an email address.
The form takes just a few minutes to complete. We recommend you apply at least 8 days before departure, as processing times may vary.
Stopover or connecting flight in Germany: ETIAS mandatory
Even without crossing the German border, a stopover at the airport requires ETIAS if the traveler comes from an affected country. No printed document is required: the authorization is recorded electronically.
ETIAS Award for Germany
The cost is €7 (standard rate when the program opens). The payment is only done online by credit card. No request will be processed without validation of payment.
