Travelling to Greece: Do I need an ETIAS?

From the date of implementation of ETIAS, all non-European nationals will need to obtain an electronic travel authorization to enter Greece. This formality will be indispensable, whether for a short stay or a simple stopover.

Is ETIAS enough to travel to Greece?

Yes, for stays of less than 90 days, the ETIAS will enable nationals of ETIAS-eligible countries to enter Greece freely, without a Schengen visa. This authorization will also cover stopovers and air transits, even without leaving the airport.

The application is made entirely online via an official ETIAS form. It requires a valid biometric passport and takes just a few minutes. ETIAS applications can take up to 96 hours to process, so it’s advisable to apply at least 8 days before departure.

How much does an ETIAS cost for Greece?

The ETIAS fee set by the European Union must be paid by credit card only. Processing of the application begins only after payment has been confirmed. Minors under 18 and seniors over 70 are eligible for a free ETIAS authorization.

Is ETIAS compulsory for stopovers in Greece?

Yes, even for a stopover or transit, the ETIAS is required. It will be electronically linked to the passport. It is not necessary to have a printed version of the ETIAS for the airport.
