Can an ETIAS authorization be modified?

No. Once issued, theETIAS cannot be modified.
Any major change (passport, identity, security) requires a new application.

When should I renew my ETIAS?

Renew your ETIAS authorization if any of the following information has changed:

Passport

Different number (lost, stolen, renewal)
Passport expiry (ETIAS becomes invalid)

Identity

Change of surname or first name (marriage, adoption…)
New nationality

Security

Recent medical or legal history
