Modifying an ETIAS authorization: what you need to know

Can an existing ETIAS be updated?

No. Once approved, an ETIAS authorization cannot be modified.
All data entered is fixed. If a mistake has been made or your information has changed, you will need to re-apply.

When should I reapply for ETIAS?

New passport

The ETIAS authorization is linked to the passport you use to travel in Europe. In the event of loss, theft or renewal, your authorization becomes invalid. You will need to complete the ETIAS form online again.

Change of identity

A change of surname, first name (e.g. after marriage), or nationality requires a new application.
Ditto in the event of an error on the first entry.

Developments in your security situation

If your health or criminal record has changed since your first application, or if you have travelled to a high-risk area, you will need to submit a new ETIAS application.
